Abraham Lincoln High School CN Courses - Behavioral & Social Sciences, Business Administration, Criminal Justice CUNY: Brooklyn College or St. John's University |
"College
Now has been extremely beneficial to both my academic and personal growth.
The program has taught me good time management and study skills. Having
these classes before the regular day begins challenges students to manage
their time properly and make it to class on time."

Brooklyn Studio High School CN Courses - Behavioral & Social Sciences, Humanities, Student Development St. Joseph's College |
"Enrolling
in the College Now program was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I was always afraid of going to college and worried about the work and
what to expect. I even thought about not going at all. The College Now
program was a solution to my fears."

Channel View High School CN Courses - English, Humanities Howard University |
"The
thought of my last year in high school was exciting, but was I ready for
the next level, college? I heard about College Now classes and decided
to see how well I would do in a college class. I soon realized that if
I was going to succeed, it was going to require discipline, and I had
to learn to take advantage of the time I had. College Now provided a great
opportunity for me to learn how to analyze what I was learning at a different
level. Thanks to this program, I now feel that I have the determination
to succeed in college."

"College Now has given me a great opportunity to save money and time when I attend college. If you have potential for success in college, you should take advantage of this program. The three classes I have taken have not only improved the reading, writing and thinking skills I will need in college; they have also made me a better high school student." |

"College
Now challenges you to handle many things at the same time, just as you
have to do in your daily adult life. The program has helped me to become
better organized, to be responsible, to multitask and to meet deadline."

Fort Hamilton High School CN Courses: Business Administration, Science College: Undecided |
"To attend College Now classes, I had to be in school by 7 A.M.; that is quite early. But by taking business and science classes, I have learned a very important lesson about college and now have a first person view of what it is really like. I was treated like an adult and have learned responsibility and time management. With College Now, I began to get greater self-confidence and to take pride in my work." |

Franklin D. Roosevelt High School CN Courses: English, Science, Student Development CUNY: City College |
"Being part of College Now has made me realize what it feels like to be a college student. My teachers taught me how to be professional and presentable. By teaching me how to speak in front of a large group, they showed me how to fit into a bigger community. When I was in the ninth grade, I didn't even know how to pronounce resume, but now I can write one. That's an example of what the program has done for me." |
|
Sidra
Qureshi
International High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Science CUNY: Brooklyn College |
"Through this program, students are not just preparing for college; they are also getting actual college credits that are transferrable to public and private schools. I highly recommend this tuition-free program; high school students should not deprive themselves of this fabulous opportunity to accelerate their learning." |

It Takes a Village Academy CN Course: Science, Student Development Hillsborough Community College, Florida |
"I am happy that I took advantage of the College Now program. By taking college-level courses, I was able to get a full understanding of what it takes to complete a class successfully. As part of my Issues in Science class, I visited a DNA lab testing center and worked on hands-on experiments with professionals in the field. The program has made me more focused and better equipped to handle the obstacles that are sure to come my way." |

James Madison High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, English, Science, Student Development CUNY: Brooklyn College |
"College Now is an excellent program that has different classes with great opportunities. The program has helped me to realize what college life looks and feels like and prepared me for it. It made me see that one needs to be serious and mature to handle college life successfully. College is not where you go to have fun and mess up your life." |
|
Denise
Flores
John Dewey High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Business Administration, Science SUNY: Albany |
"Of
course, the opportunity to gain college credits while still in high school
seemed very inviting, but what really pushed me to join the program was
that I could improve my basic skills and save a lot of money. By taking
three courses at a convenient location, my own school, I earned nine credits
and save thousands of dollars. The courses had another advantage. They
will ease my transition from high school to college."

Leon M. Goldstein High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Student Development CUNY: College of Staten Island |
"The greatest benefit the College Now program gave me was that it better prepared me for the college environment. It will certainly help all students who are willing to work hard to achieve their goals." |

Gabriela

Michael J. Petrides High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Humanities, Student Development CUNY: College of Statement Island |
"My College Now experiences have given me a headstart toward a path of understanding of what the academic expectations are at the college level. The program has taught me how to think critically and to gain a wider perspective. The HUM 1 class opened up a new world to me, one that covers art, music, film and literature. In my very engaging BSS 1 class, I studied topics that showed the historical relevance of contemporary problems. Finally, the SD 10-11 class was very helpful in helping me in planning a career and preparing for college." |

Nicholas
Smith
New Dorp High School CN Courses: Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Mass Communications, Student Development CUNY: Borough of Manhattan Community College |
"Being a part of this remarkable program has been valuable because it has helped me to make more informed college-career decisions. Three of the classes that I took-Business Administration-Criminal Justice-Mass Communications-gave me a better idea regarding whether or not I should pursue a career in these areas. The College Orientation class gave me an insight into areas ranging from applying for financial aid to college professor expectations." |
|
Krysten
Fiore
New Utrecht High School CN Courses: Humanities, Coastal Piloting College: Undecided |
"College Now has taught me how to work in college and how to think on the college level as well. The courses I took gave me the opportunity to study how TV children have evolved over the years, compare a play (A View From the Bridge) to a film (On the Waterfront), visit a museum to critique art pieces and learn to dock a boat. The program gave me expectations that are more realistic than the ones I had." |

Jillian

Port Richmond High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Business Administration, Humanities, Student Development CUNY: College of Staten Island |
"I
was a little bit skeptical about this program, but I gave it a shot and
ended up really enjoying the experience. I learned a lot about our cultural
history, today's business climate and the need to look at the world in
a different way. I also saw the importance of really focusing on what
I want to do and be in the future. College Now made me feel as if I were
really in college, and it made me more independent."

Rachel Carson High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Science CUNY: New York City Tech |
"College Now has been a very positive experience for me. The BSS 1 course focused on the structures and dynamics of society and examined the ways social structure is formed in groups, organizations and communities. It also covered the social dynamics of deviance, culture, violence, social control and values. SCI 1 was a difficult course that went beyond the high school science curriculum. The Big Bang Theory and other theories of how Earth was formed were interesting topics. The academic challenges of these courses helped me sharpen my skills. Everyone should take advantage of this free program." |

Ralph R. McKee High School CN Courses: Behavioral & Social Sciences, Science Berkley College |
"The College Now classes have given me the ability to start the transition from high school to college. I am learning how to think, work and write as a college student. As a participant in the program, I've had a variety of experiences, such as going through the financial aid process, researching a career and describing how to prepare for it, making a presentation and "dressing" for the part. I studied kinetics and built virtual roller coasters, learned the limits of the human body and observed various aspects of society's behavior. The classes have not been easy, but they have been rewarding." |

"The
College Now courses I took helped me gain more knowledge about my future
career and college plans, how to prepare for interviews, improve time
management and connect with other people. My writing, reading and communication
skills are better, and so is my self-confidence. The program has been
very suppportive. I am glad I became a part of it and recommend it to
any student preparing for college."

Staten Island Technical High School CN Courses - Behavioral & Social Sciences, Mass Communications CUNY: Baruch College |
"By
taking College Now classes, I was able to explore my interests and develop
new ones. When I was five-years old, I dreamed of being a television reporter;
when I was 13, I dreamed of seeing my name on a byline on the front page
of he New York Times. The cultures of different societies were of no concern.
However, after taking COM 11, I realized that perhaps focusing on a career
in the mass media was not for me, and after participating in the BSS 1
class, realized how inspired I was to challenge myself to view things
from different perspectives. On a recent trip to Japan, I took a much
more in-depth look at Japanese culture than I would have prior to being
in BSS 1."

"I'm
soon to explore the world of college, and the College Now courses I've
taken have prepared me really well for this new journey. The classes have
taught me more than just subject matter. They showed me the differences
between high school and college teaching and learning. The program made
me open my eyes and realize that it's up to me to be a successful student
if I want to succeed in life. I will be the first in my family to go to
college, and I want to be an example to my younger sibling and cousins
and eventually to my own children."

Tottenville High School CN Courses - English, Mass Communications, Science, Student Development Wagner College |
"The
College Now courses I signed up for gave me a good taste of what real
colleges classes are like. Although the four I took were scheduled very
early in the morning, I still enjoyed them because they improved my writing
skills, helped make applying to college easier and gave me a good idea
of the development of the film industry."

Tottenville High School CN Courses - Behavioral & Social Sciences, Business Administration, English, Student Development CUNY: John Jay College |
"The College Now program is one of the most beneficial programs offered to my generation. It served as a reality check for me. This totally free experience taught me how to write a college essay, gave me an idea of society's way of thinking, introduced me to the criminal justice system and taught me the pros and cons of running a business. I am grateful for having been a part of it." |

William E. High School CN Courses - Behavioral & Social Sciences, Broadcasting, Mass Communications, CUNY: Kingsborough Community College |
"The three courses I took were all beneficial and earned me nine free college creidts. The program gave me some interesting experiences, such as preparing and participating in a radio broadcast (a sports show with two of my friends), having a role in College Now News and visiting HBO Studios and CBS. The program gave me a jumpstart to see what college is going to be like. I recommend it. |
